HST Cow in its right place

The tiny 3/4" HSTs are now assembled into my second version of 'HST Cow All Squared Up'.

The cow is now put where it is is supposed to be, but I cant't show you more for the time being. There's still a lot of work to be done, so I'll be busy for quite a while.

Happy quilting!

Small things

Today I have been working on small (or actually tiny) things.

I am making HSTs from leftovers of Celtic Solstice; unfinished size is 1.25" and finished will be 3/4". See the thimble for comparison. The Mini Cow is less than 2" square including legs and tail. Tiny, tiny!

This is fun!

Another Swoon Pillow completed

On the day before Easter I finished assembling my Swoon Pillow cover. Stuffed with a 20" pillow form, I now got a new big beauty for my couch.

I took it outside for a photo shoot this morning to show off the true colors of the pillow. Now my April goal for ALYoF is completed; goal post is here .

When cutting the pieces for the design, I used the Companion Angle and the Easy Angle by Sharon Hultgren and cut out all the parts from 3" strips. This method created hardly any waste. Straight line quilting with light grey thread enhances the design.

I made a simple envelope closure for the back.

The weather today on this Easter Sunday is just getting brighter and brighter. It is turning out to be a perfect day with the leg of lamb soon roasting in the oven.

I wish all of you a very Happy Easter!

Progress

Last weekend I finished the quilting of the pillow front blogged in the previous post.

Yes, it's a Swoon! The fabrics are a perfect match with the clear white, the pink fabric with flowers in white and Cornflower blue, and the Cornflower solid. I did a straight line quilting with my walking foot, and used a light grey quilting thread.

Here, the quilting is finished. The straight line quilting gives a nice texture to the pillow front. I have previously made two of these pillow covers, blogged about here . Then it should have been fairly easy to complete this 20" pillow cover with an envelope closure, but, I got distracted...

I started on another project that I can't reveal until next month, but I can give you a little sneak peak of a few scrappy star blocks.

I am only using using fabric from my stash for this project, among them some recycled shirts. If feels good to not buy anything new, but after most of the blocks are made, I can not see much reduction in my scrap bins...

When the quilt top is finished on this project, I will have to get started finishing my Swoon pillow cover, because this is my ALYoF goal for April.

Happy quilting!

Pillow coming along

Here is a little sneak peek of the pillow cover I am making as my ALYoF goal for April, blogged about here. I like the color combination, they work so well together. More progress coming soon...

Happy quilting!

PS! The snow in the yard is all gone now, spring is here!

Globetrotting - San Juan, Puerto Rico

April's block is now completed, and here it is:

I chose to add another color to the quilt top, this block wanted an emerald in the center. With red pinwheels and blue blocks with swirls in the design, this block will soon fly away unless I finish the photo shoot very soon.

All four blocks together makes a nice design. 8 more blocks to make, and how will the next blocks look? One thing I am certain of, is that I will use more of the emerald fabric in this quilt; it livens up the design. The combination of green and blue is one of my favorites!

The pinwheels were fun to make, and it is always nice to get this perfect little pinwheel on the back when it is pressed this way.

Happy quilting!

2014 Aurifil April Block

This month's block is done, Bear Paw designed by Angela Yosten. Now I'm finished with a third of the blocks. The turorial for the block is here .

The block I have made so far are shown in the picture above. I didn't have a specific pallette this time around, I just chose the colors/fabrics that felt right for each block at the time. The April block feels more like fall than spring, but I think that it fits well with the design.

I also finished sewing the binding on my Spring Garden Table Runner this morning. I think it looks good, with the promise of spring! (Here we still have quite a lot of snow in the yard).

Happy quilting!

Spring GardenTable Runner being made

When I saw this tutorial at the Bear Creek quilting company's blog, I knew I had to make my own version of it.

Here are the HST blocks being trimmed.

Last night the runner got the borders on, and then it was basted with safety pins. The plan is to quilt and bind it this weekend. It will be a spring gift to an aunt of mine.

Fabric Box #4

When the first three boxed arrived to their destination, another person fell in love with the design, and a little bird whispered it to me. That's why I made a fourth one, and it will be sent in the mail tomorrow.

Here the box catches the last sunrays of the day in my yard. This is a very simple fabric box to make; tutorial by Seaside Stitches is here .

April Goal for ALYoF

These fabrics will be the basis for my April Goal; a 20" pillow cover. The white will be the background. The pink one with flowers I bought years ago. As you might see, there are some blue/turquoise flowers on it, and by accident/chance the color is the same as the solid I bought from Connecting Threads last winter; Cornflower.

Here the fabrics are on display on my porch, showing off the snow in the yard that does not want to leave. I definitely need to make a summer pillow to chase away winter.

This will probably be an easy goal to achieve this month, and that is OK since Easter is coming up and I probably would like to do something else than just sew and quilt!
