You can read more about the quilt in the original blog post here .

The quilt has not yet gotten a recipient, time will show who will get it.

In the mean time, visit  Amy's Creative Side , to enjoy all the beautiful quilts entered in the Festival.

New baby quilt finished

I finished my second baby quilt today. This time it is made for the daughter of my neighbors, who is expecting in December. I do not know whether it will be a boy or a girl, so I made a quilt fitting for both. The pattern I used was a freebie from Moda Bakeshop.

As you can see, there are lots of bright colors.

Here it is displayed on my (wet) porch floor in-between rain showers. The quilt is 44" square, and it didn't shrink much after I ran it through a wash- and dryer cycle just after the photo shoot. In the back is a basket containing three other quilts I have finished recently.

The back is made of an old duvet cover, and the binding is green and white polka dots. With cotton batting, this is a soft and cuddly baby quilt after washing.

This is an unusual picture for me; four finished quilts in a basket at my home, waiting for a new home! In the front are two baby quilts, and at the back left is a charity quilt that will be handed over to the local hospital early in November, the back right is occupied by my latest table runner.

All these quilts will most likely have left my home in a few months, but seeing them all together in this basket I really feel the need to keep more quilts for my self.

These ones really look good in this basket, don't you think!

Progress on Modern Trees Quilt Along

I have made good progress on Christa's Quilt Along, Modern Trees, and the quilt top is finished. My improv trees are not bright, but in in warm/wintery colors. The picture of the complete quilt top taken indoors doesn't give enough credit to the tree-colors, so here is a detail picture of the topmost trees.

The trees a little further down are shown here. The colors of the trees are warm red, green of different nuances, neutrals, and white with tiny gold hearts. This gives an old-fashioned wintery/Christmas look.

Here is the completed quilt top in its whole clory. I added 2" solid white around the trees, and then a solid moss-green narrow border. To complete the top, I added a border of white/ecru fabric with a design in gold, which complements the tiny golden hearts in the trees. I am sorry that the colors don't show off as they are in real life, that's due to bleak winter light.

The way the trees are organized there is a lot of negative space. I wonder how Christa is suggesting to quilt this one?! We will just have to wait and see!

New table runner made

I needed to make a gift, and found a free pattern for a table runner on the net. It is called 'Jingle Jolly Runner', by Happy Zombie.

I used lots of fabric squares from my stash, in addition to whites/neutrals and black fabric for the stars. The finished table runner is 16" x 40", a nice size.

Here is details of the quilting. I quilted it using the walking foot, with slightly meandering lines. That gives a sort of wooden structure. In this picture you can see that the stars are made of two black fabrics, one with polka dots, and the other with tiny white stars.

My porch was wet after the rain, and I was able to stretch the runner out in the garden chair. The lighting was not the best, but the colors show off good, though. This is sort of a Christmas runner, but can be used other times of the year, too.

The back definitely has a Christmas/winter theme, red with white and green (!) snowflakes. The binding is solid green. I am pleased with the result, and I think this table runner will brighten up its new home!

All trees finished!

Here they are, all 15 of them. Now I just have to wait a week or so before the instructions for the next step are published. Looking forward to it!
